It wasanalyzed by the serological test agarose gel immunodiffusion,396 samples of goat serum in 14 distinct production units in the states of Pará and Maranhão.The frequency observed was 21.6% (85/393). The risk factors found were: lack of knowledge about the disease, the use of non-disposable materials, the free-range farming system, the semi-intensive farming system, and handling procedures. It has been concluded that the goat production units in Pará and Maranhão showed positive results for the studied disease in their livestock.
