Abstract

With the growing use of the consensual mechanisms of conflict resolution in Brazil, specially, from the Resolucao n. 125 of the Conselho Nacional de Justica, when the approximation between the Conflict Mediation and the Judicial Power occurred, in addition to having established the capacitation duty of the mediators and conciliators, became more evident the need for the legal professionals to expand their comprehension in regard to the consensual mechanisms of conflict resolution, in addition to the need of seeking knowledge and development of skills that allow the adequate and effective forwarding of the requests for the mechanisms that can extend the possibilities of the ones that seek the access to justice to reach more satisfactory, effective and sustainable results, in a reasonable timeline. Thus, this article aims to present the converging points between the skills developed by the conflict mediator and the legal professionals' necessary skills in the 21st century as a way to expand the possibilities of such professionals expanding their view and consequently extending the ways to justice access. To support this study, bibliographic and documental analysis were performed. The study revealed that legal professionals that operate in the conflict management area can develop skills that facilitate the updating of the legal professionals for the legal market in the 21st century.
