In this article we intend to reflect on the status of Davi Kopenawa Yanomami's speech in A queda do céu, having as its horizon the definition of truth-event present in the work of Michel Foucault. Firstly, we show the relationship between a shaman's words and truth words based on the idea of “discursive practices” with the purpose of showing the role of words among the Yanomami and proving the shamanic-scientific and cosmopolitical status of Kopenawa's words. Then, we show the distinction between “truth-event” and “truth-demonstration” based on Foucault’s genealogical investigations. It is about showing how the philosopher articulates a permanent game in the ways of obtaining truth in the West, where the production of knowledge and the maintenance of power must be seen as separate, but in reality, they are products of the same mechanisms of domination over the “other”. Finally, we operated an experiment on these two readings to show how Kopenawa's words can be read as producers of a truth-event, allowing an opening for reflection on our historical, political and epistemological reality, whose main objective is to strengthen the struggle of the Amerindian peoples in Brazil.
