Purpose: This study investigates the compatibility between data collection and analysis methods and the ontology of Actor-Network Theory (ANT), aiming to provide methodological recommendations aligned with its fundamental principles. Methodology: We conducted an integrative literature review of 42 empirical articles published in the last five years, analyzing the data collection and analysis methods employed. Based on this, we propose a methodological framework grounded in ANT. Main results: Interviews, document analysis, and observation were the most used data collection methods, with thematic analysis being the predominant approach for data analysis. We highlight that the centrality of human actors remains common in many studies. Academic contributions: We present a model in which thematic analysis serves as an initial step, combined with other methods to better align with ANT’s concept of agency. Practical contributions: ANT can support the interaction between technologies, processes, and people, influencing communication and identifying critical points in these relationships. This, in turn, enables management to identify opportunities for innovation and improvements in organizational processes.
