Abstract

This study presents an investigation into the concept of culture from different perspectives. The question that gave rise to the research was: to what extent can the approaches launched on the concept of culture help us in understanding our relationships as a society and our human constitution? In view of this, we investigated culture from theoretical perspectives of anthropology, sociology, history, literature and pedagogy, in order to identify participatory aspects of our social construction in the face of convergent and divergent points between such theories. From the methodological point of view, the study is a qualitative, bibliographical, exploratory research. Therefore, authors such as Mello (2009), Geertz (2008), Eagleton (2011), Certeau (1995), Laraia (2001) and Bauman (2012) were essential for the development of the proposed reflections. The results led us to understand that culture refers to the constitution of one's own cultural identity and the sense of humanity. The conceptual reflection on culture, human constitution and education composes questions that touch the core of our actions and their representativeness in the construction of realities. Therefore, we face culture and education as founding phenomena of this essential and attitudinal existence.
