Abstract

This paper aims mainly to present some institutional and philosophical elements of the Professional Master's Degree in Philosophy (PROF-FILO) profile, and to provide also some information about the composition and performance of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) Unit in this Postgraduate Program network. In the first movement of the text, historical data are presented about creation of this network and the UFCG Unit, by discussing also some questions related to the Teaching Philosophy and its epistemological status, some research methodologies peculiarities in this philosophical knowledge field, and the problem about epistemic profile of the teacher of Philosophy, whereupon philosophical questions and attitude takes precedence facing didactic-methodological demands. In the second movement, teacher and student staff composition of the Unit and its geographic and institutional extent are presented and, finally, its social and academic impacts on teacher training and philosophical education in Brazilian schools are discussed.
