On this paper, the characteristics of the mythic hero are discussed trough a comparison between David Bowman (the hero of both the Novel and the Film 2001: A Space Odyssey) and the mythic heroes, especially Achilles. From these characteristics, we examine in which way Bowman can be seen as a modern mythic hero.
