Abstract

In this article, we present the seemingly antagonistic strands of thought, liberation Christianity, Marxism and pedagogy of the oppressed, whose relevance in the current scenario that plagues Brazilian and Latin American society, points to the hallucinogenic face, of a grotesque form of religious meaning, dressed in the cloak of innocence to install projects and agendas that are in collusion with the oppressive and compressive power, imposed on the popular and working classes. On the other hand, we have shown the religious version that does not agree with this scheme set up by reactionary forces (right and extreme right), worshippers of the god capital, denouncing and comparing their practices to the god Mammon (fetishized). It is essential to rescue the struggle and historical memory of these movements mentioned above, allies and brothers, whose concept of existing “elective affinity” is revealed, for example, in Alder Calado, Freire and Löwy. The research is focused on a bibliographic study, of a qualitative nature, based on the referenced texts.
