This article, written from a survey carried out among Portuguese students at Rennes 2 University, aims to identify the linguistic profile of the students, through the analysis of their linguistic repertoire, particularly concerning the Portuguese language. It will not only be necessary to determine the place of the Portuguese language in the linguistic repertoire of specialist and non-specialist students, but also to understand what motivated this choice and whether the heritage language factor is decisive. Likewise, we will look at the evaluation of Portuguese language skills, which will be related to the linguistic background of the students. In addition, we will try to identify the relationships between plurilingualism, heritage language and language learning and proficiency.
