PRESENÇA QUEER NA LITERATURA MEDIEVAL IRLANDESA: UMA PROPOSTA DE TRADUÇÃO COMENTADA DO CONTO NÍALL FRASSACH’S ACT OF TRUTH

Resumo

Este artigo oferece uma tradução comentada, do inglês moderno para a língua portuguesa, do conto Níall Frassach’s Act of Truth (Níall, 2002), texto que revela uma presença queer na literatura medieval irlandesa. Para embasar este trabalho, trago à baila reflexões sobre o termo queer por Butler (2019) e o conceito de leitura queer apresentado por Stockton (2023). Recorro também a trabalhos relacionados a questões de gênero e sexualidade em textos medievais por Deplagne (2019), Rossiaud (2006) e Gos (2013), além de McManus (2008). A narrativa em pauta trata de duas mulheres que tiveram um relacionamento homoafetivo e da sábia decisão de um rei irlandês acerca da paternidade do filho de uma delas. Esta tradução poderá contribuir para o debate no campo dos Estudos Queer, como foco na Literatura Queer, através da revelação de textos literários que tocam no tema do relacionamento homoafetivo entre mulheres em obras da literatura medieval irlandesa. Além disso, leva a uma reflexão sobre a necessidade de escritores dedicados a promover uma maior visibilidade de personagens queer em suas narrativas contemporâneas e de tradutores engajados nesse tipo de projeto tradutório.
