Informação & Sociedade it has been published uninterruptedly since 1991—when it was created by the Federal University of Paraíba—and was one of the first to be hosted on the UFPB Journal Portal. Currently, the journal is indexed in major national and international databases and directories, standing out among high-impact indexing bodies in the field of Information Science.
Its mission is to disseminate works that contribute to the development of new knowledge in Information Science, Library Science, and related fields among researchers, professors, students, and other professionals, regardless of professional affiliation or place of origin.
It has national and international scope, adopting a strict peer-review process. As a publication linked to the Graduate Program in Information Science at UFPB, the journal adopts an editorial policy of distributing local production so as not to favor internal authors, as can be observed in the tables of contents.
I&S's editorial policy is open to the various perspectives through which information scientists observe information in society. Our expectation is that the journal will contribute to communicative exchanges regarding study reports, reflections, and propositions by information scientists from Brazil and around the world.
