GRADUATION CHARTS AS A PORTAL TO THE MEMORY OF THE “COLÉGIO COMERCIAL DE PICOS-PI” (1965-1977)

This article analyzes the graduation charts from the “Colégio Comercial de Picos” (1965-1977), which are under the care of the Museum Ozildo Albano located in Picos (PI). Seven are the charts in the period overseen from the corresponding dates. The overall goal was to analyze the graduation charts as a register of the school culture of the “Colégio Comercial de Picos”. The specific goals were: a) investigate the graduation charts as a source in order to understand the relation between the school and the external community and b) understand the representation aspects of these charts for the school community. It was pointed, as theoretical-methodological presupposition, Cultural History (BURKE, 1992; CHARTIER, 1990) and it was used, for the analysis, the ideas of document/monument and memory of Le Goff (2003). The analysis lead us to the notion of the charts being memory-objects, a term employed by Benito (2018), and through those we were able to unveil a time, a place and life-style in the school as well as to how it relates to the community within which it is included in.
