Challenges in producing a bilingual terminological glossary based on Corpus Linguistics, Terminology and Translation.
Abstract: This article aims to report the challenges and difficulties encountered in producing a bilingual terminological glossary composed of terms from Constitutional Law. This study involves the two families of Law, common law and civil law, which are intrinsically linked to their languages of use, and within them can establish new uses and unique meanings, in addition to a lexicon specific to the area, which generates questions and research based on Translation to address such developments in the language specific to this area. Our objectives are centered on identifying and analyzing the obstacles encountered in the course of scientific work. We based this research on the postulates of terminology theorists, such as Cabré (1999), Krieger & Finatto (2004), Welker (2004), Barbosa (1990). For Corpus Linguistics, Berber Sardinha (2004) and Almeida (2006). And for Translation we based on Reiss (2000), Vermeer (1987) and Nord (2001. From the production of this research, we began to report the steps in which we encountered the setbacks and how they manifested themselves in each stage of the scientific work. Finally, we conclude that the most affected moments of the research are those linked to the organization of the data in the terminology file, for the most part, and the reason for their manifestations in the labeling, including the translation/adaptation in some cases, from Portuguese and English terms.
