THE TEACHING OF PHILOSOPHY:
REFLECTIONS ON THE RELEVANCE OF KNOWLEDGE IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF PHILOSOPHICAL AWARENESS IN BASIC EDUCATION

This article deals with the relevance of knowledge in the construction of philosophical consciousness in basic education. Its main objective is to understand the relevance of teaching philosophy in the social formation of individuals, through the construction of philosophical consciousness. As a methodological procedure, a qualitative bibliographic review was chosen. The research sources were articles, books and laws. It was found that the teaching of philosophy is essential for the construction of philosophical awareness and encouraging the student to reflect on social issues contributes to their formation and, consequently, favors the exercise of citizenship in its fullness, being necessary that the teacher seeks his/her space as an apt trainer and that public policies guarantee the teaching of philosophy.
