What happens when a non-Indigenous researcher trained in philosophy decides to investigate philosophy education by engaging with Potiguara individuals—both students and teachers? Does this fall within the realm of the permitted and the recognized? Who requires recognition? Did knowledge emerge *from* the Other, or was the researcher merely mirroring the Other within the already known? Engaging with Potiguara individuals as a non-Potiguara person gives rise to discomfort regarding research into philosophy education—research situated within the colonial structure that underpins modern discourses. In light of this, this article aims to briefly present research on philosophy education in dialogue with concepts of gender and racism, drawing on the inquiries of the non-Potiguara researcher (the author). To this end, the selection of thinkers such as Butler (2018), Carneiro (2005), Jacupé (2020), Flor do Nascimento (2010), Silva (2013), and Soares (2014) is deliberate and intentional. The study employed a deductive method based on bibliographic research to understand the phenomenon through theoretical foundations interwoven with unique lived experiences; these experiences are not defined by a solitary "I," but by a researcher-subject who positions herself within the interplay between subjectivity and objectivity in research. The goal is to intertwine research theories with the lived experiences generated during the research process—conducted with Potiguara philosophy teachers in state high schools on the northern coast of Paraíba. At the intersection of these trajectories, the researcher becomes the "Other"—in a process that is both fixed and multifaceted—as she confronts racism and gender within the colonialist structures that constitute both her own identity and the teaching of philosophy. It is also an encounter with other histories—counter-narratives—traversing bodies "made for the care of the Other" that are now repositioning themselves.
