This essay debates the preliminary results of a research about mix-graded classes in rural schools. The research has been taking place in the Bragantina region, in the state of Pará. It analyzes the rural schools’ curriculums, built from the educational practice in the classrooms. Furthermore, it analyzes the school-based learning embodiment that occurs or does not occur, in the mediation with the students’ local knowledge. For the research building, we anchored in theoretical references and data collected from observations and interviews. The latter was held in a rural community with educators, parents, and students from a mix-graded class. The thoughts to result from this essay will enable the following discussion with the education city managers and the schools’ teaching staff. Thus, the intention is to ensure an effective commitment for continuous training with an agenda that considers alternatives for redefining the pedagogical work in the elementary schools under this teaching organization.
