Abstract

This article presents a literature review on research on continuing teacher training for Media Education, from the perspective of the reflective teacher approach, carried out from 2019 to 2023. The methodological design included the search in the Periódico databases Capes, Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) and Capes Catalog of Theses and Dissertations, of research carried out in this five-year period. The analysis of the work was based on Creswell's (2014) spiral of analysis, with the definition of three categories – 1. Continuing training; 2. Training of reflective teachers; and 3. Teacher training for Media Education – seeking to identify what the research revealed about each one. The results confirm the need for changes in continuing teacher training programs so that they contribute to the development of the skills and competencies necessary to mediate critical reading of media.
