THE DENATURALIZATION OF THE BODY AND BODY PRACTICES

Using explanations of the cultural dimension of human behavior, this article aims to focus on Physical Education and its object as elements emerging from historical, social and cultural constructions, as a pole of resistance to naturalizing interpretations that still challenge academic thinking within the area. The text presents a notion of physical education as a social intervention on the body, that is, the possibility of thinking about the institution of a body education, based on the articulation with epistemological foundations from Social Anthropology. As an area of knowledge that acts on the body culture of movement, Physical Education has not always looked carefully at the cultural dimension of its object, incurring sometimes reductionist analyzes of human body behavior. The interface between Physical Education and anthropological studies allows understanding bodily aspects such as, for example, movement learning and body training, such as cultural productions.
