Michael Apple's theoretical formulations about the hidden curriculum conceived as an ideological instrument of social reproduction were used as a subsidy for the analysis of the area of Natural Sciences present in the National Curriculum Common Core (BNCC). For this analysis, a document analysis guided by a qualitative research method was used in order to evaluate the possibilities of the presence of the hidden curriculum in BNCC’s propositions for Science Teaching and to understand if such hidden curricular practices are committed to the maintenance of the political and sociocultural system. Paulo Freire's pedagogical and epistemological contributions were used to reflect on the possibilities of overcoming the hidden curriculum in the teaching of Natural Sciences, using as parameters three analytical categories: transforming praxis, dialogue and concrete reality. By this analysis was evaluate the role of the BNCC in the reproduction and perpetuation of a decontextualized and instrumental science teaching, contributing to a curriculum aligned with a hegemonic education and adaptable to sociocultural and economic inequalities.
